My first day in the U.S is coming to an end...the sun is setting and I had some dinner. I ate one the famous Campbell's soup..unfortunatly, I don't like tomato soup for real, so I had minestrone. It was not that bad but still nothing compared to the one's I used to eat in bella Italia...

Today I haven't done much. I woke up at 15 to 9 a.m. and talked to my "hostfamily", the Wilson's (they are not a real hostfamily since I need to cook for myself, wash my stuff myself, etc. - i just rent their room and am allowed to use quasi all their facilities...
Then I finally got my bag...which made me happy for some time...because I could take a shower because I smelled like a wild animal...
And then I was in the right mood to have a look around the area...I walked to the Stanford Shopping Centre which takes about 10mins. It's nice there but the shops are pretty boring...the usual designer labels like Armani, Ralph Laure that I despise...and the thing I already hate now - parking lots. They are everywhere and they are huge and full of cars....
I walked on and on and arrived in Downtown Palo Alto which is very cute...little shops, bars and restaurants for all tastes are located in University Ave...I didn't make to the Stanford University itself since I got tired at some point...and turned around.
Close the to the house Im staying in, there is a large grocery store called Super Saver which
When I arrived at home, I realized I didn't bring an adapter for the US sockets...so I took
On the way there I looked at the cars and it's insane but Americans only drive huge cars, mostly these ugly SUV monsters...I came from Italy, where they drive the smallest cars ever (e.g. Fiat 500) to the US where "the bigger, the better" seems to be the motto...horrible! Teenagers drive these monster truck like gasoline devourers...I mean I knew this before but you really don't see a small car here...which makes me laugh...I mean I read someone that a large car psychologically compensates something which is smaller...
On the other hand, Im happy that there are many Toyota Prius Hybrid cars around...in Austria I have only seen one...this is really cool since they don't pollute the environment that much...
Ok enough for today. Now I watch a movie and go to bed soon since Im still a bit tired and have walked a lot...tomorrow I will have another look around and maybe meet my professor from Austria, who teaches here, for the first time...
Good night and good luck!
PS: I also post some cool pics from the house, my room, my walk and from the flight from Chicago to San Francisco because the US looks really cool from above....
